Turn the TV on, it’s 1981. Like Cassandra at a rave, MTV prophetically launches with ‘Video Killed the Radio Star’. Spectacle is everything. Michael Jackson releases ‘Thriller’ with a 14-minute long horror film, a bridal Madonna gyrates at the VMAs to ‘Like A Virgin’. At any second the whole world is threatening to fall apart, East and West remain divided and everyday people are being asked to prepare for nuclear war. What is there left to do but live large, live loud, live now.
Wherever you look, the 80s are living it large. There are big sounds, big hair and a big playlist!
